Profile for Richard Carl "DICK" Gach |
|
General: (political statement of goals, objectives, views, philosophies) |
My Libertarian views on current issues:
Similar to Democrats: 1. Oppose amending the Constitution to prevent gay marriage. 2. Oppose amending the Constitution to criminalize flag burning. 3. Oppose amending the Constitution to criminalize abortion. 4. Favor proceeding with stem cell research. Similar to Republicans: 1. Favor reduction of taxes and government programs. 2. Favor reducing excessive regulation of business. Similar to Greens and Ralph Nader: 1. Opposition to unprovoked invasion and continued occupation of Iraq. 2. Opposition to the over 30 year "War on Drugs". (Drug abuse is bad, but it should be treated by the health department, not the criminal "justice" department.) (Same as alcohol abuse.)
My proposed Constitutional Amendment, No. XXVIII: "Congress shall make no law criminalizing, penalizing, or restricting any consensual, adult behavior that harms neither the person nor the property of another." |

Religion: (current and past religious affiliations, beliefs) |
Temple Beth El, Reform Jewish Affiliation -- My family has belonged to Temple Beth El for a century and a half. Beliefs:1. I believe that there is one God -- I refer to this one God as "The Lord". Islamic people, for instance, believe that there is one God -- they refer to their God as "Allah". Since we both believe that there is but one God, it must be the same God, we have just assigned different names to the same God.
2. The last time I checked with Google, 31 different religions advocate the Golden Rule, with very similar wording. If we all practiced it, we would live in a harmonious, peaceful world.
3. Religions should all teach us to live together in peace.
4. Jews and Christians alike follow the Ten Commandments; the Bill of Rights guarantees our Right of Freedom of Religion. But Libertarians do not believe that tax money should be used to intimidate others who are not interested in the Judeo-Christian Ten Commandments.
5. In the inimicible words of Rodney King, "Why can't we all just get along?" |
